Agartala, Oct 2 (Representative) The opposition Congress has threatened to launch a massive protest against the alleged failure of the BJP-led government in Tripura to ensure good governance and development in last six months under the second BJP government led by Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha.Tripura Pradesh Congress President Ashis Kumar Saha on Monday in a press conference alleged that the state government has exacerbated chaos in public administration where people have not been getting minimum services, law and order is deteriorating very fast, the administration has collapsed and corruption gripped the system under BJP’s rule. “The Chief Minister has no control over his cabinet, administration, and party leaders because he is not giving enough time and attention. As a result, the corrupt gang of BJP, which was created during Biplab Kumar Deb’s regime, expanded its activities further with the involvement of a section of government officers,” Saha stated. He alleged Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC) raised property taxes for the city dwellers and the state government hiked the power tariff exorbitantly without improving the basic minimum service. There are no city cleaning activities regularly, water bodies and drains become garbage bins, no water supply, no proper transportation, parking facilities, and repeated power cuts daily but they hiked the tax and tariff.
Saha vehemently objected to the escalation in electricity tariffs, the rise in water property tax, and the eviction of street ahead of Durga puja and threatened to hold massive protests against misgovernance and added the Tripura State Electricity Corporation Ltd is exporting centricity outside the state while failing to maintain a functional system and it has transitioned from profit to loss due to corrupt practices. The Pradesh Congress calls for an inquiry into this matter and immediate rollback of the tariff hike. He also criticized AMC for carrying out eviction drives in the city without offering any form of rehabilitation to the vendors. The people are not getting proper water supply, security, and basic amenities across the state and Dr Saha left the administration in the hands of a few bureaucrats who have been looting the state in connivance with some BJP leaders. Meanwhile, former minister of left front government and senior CPM leader Manik Dey alleged that the people of the state have been facing severe difficulties since 2018, including a significant job crisis, price rise of essential commodities, deficiency of service delivery system and organized corruption in all sectors, which brought disaster in commoners’ life.
