New Delhi, May 29 (Agency) Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Saturday slammed the government for deciding to abolish around 91,000 Railway jobs, and said the decision will cost the government. “Modi government is not capable of giving new jobs but it is definitely capable of snatching the remaining jobs. Remember, the youth will break your arrogance of power. Ruining their future will cost this government dearly,” he said. According to reports, Indian Railway has decided to abolish around 91,000 non-safety category posts. No more recruitments will be done on these posts in future.
Congress Chief Spokesperson Randeep Singh Surjewala said youth were losing hope of finding employment. “Unemployment breaks 45 year record… Crores have given up hope of employment. Now 50 percent jobs in railways are gone forever! 91,629 posts will never be recruited now!” Surjewala said. “From village to city, youth are working day and night for recruitment in railways and army. But in the Modi government, both recruitment and hope are over,” he said. Railway Board has issued instructions to abolish 50 percent posts of all 17 zonal railway non safety categories. It also includes railway production units, wheel-engine factories and coach factories. There are a total of 4,52,825 in the non-safety category. Of these, 91,649 posts are lying vacant as per reports.
