New Delhi, May 29 (Agency) Buoyed by its stupendous victory in the recently concluded Karnataka polls, the Congress on Monday reviewed party’s preparedness for the coming Assembly elections in Madhya Pradesh, and exuded confidence that it will oust the ruling BJP. A meeting was convened by Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge with the party’s Madhya Pradesh unit, in the presence top party leaders- Rahul Gandhi and KC Venugopal, and state chief and former Chief Minister Kamal Nath, at the party headquarters here, wherein they deliberated about the party’s preparations for the polls, likely to be held later this year, sources said. “We had a long discussion.
We will win 150 Assembly seats (out of 230) in MP as per our internal assessment. We will repeat the same like Karnataka,’’ Rahul, flanked by Nath and Venugopal, told reporters after the meeting. Apprising about the meeting, Nath said, “We discussed the strategy for the upcoming Assembly polls in Madhya Pradesh, besides how to keep ‘safe’ the future of the state.” “We discussed what would be our ‘major’ issues on the basis of which we will contest the elections. We will fight unitedly,” he added. Meanwhile, Venugopal in a tweet wrote, “After our brilliant performance in Karnataka, we will also win resoundingly with 150 seats in MP.” In the recently concluded Karnataka polls, the Congress won 135 Assembly seats out of 224 constituencies.
