Congress reconstitutes disciplinary committee

New Delhi, Nov 18 (Agency) Congress on Thursday reconstituted it’s disciplinary committee with former defence minister AK Antony as it’s chairman. The party dropped senior party leaders Ghulam Nabi Azad and Sushil Kumar Shinde, who were earlier part of the committee. This comes a day after several leaders of Jammu and Kashmir Congress, who are said to be close to Azad, resigned. The five member committee constituted on Thursday has senior party leader Tariq Anwar as member secretary.

Former minister Ambika Soni, and party leaders Jai Prakash Aggarwal and G Parameswar are the other members of the committee. In recent meetings of the Congress Working Committee and at another meet of party General Secretaries and state chiefs and in-charges, Congress President Sonia Gandhi had emphasized on “discipline” in the party. Her comments came after questions were raised by party leader Kapil Sibal on decision making in the party. Sibal also said that the Congress did not have a full time president.
