Bhubaneswar, June 23 (FN Representative) The Congress MLAs of Odisha will not support the BJP led NDA’s candidate Draupadi Murmu in the Presidential election, Congress legislature party leader Narasingha Mishra said here on Thursday. Mishra said since Congress is opposed to ideology of BJP and RSS it will not support Murmu, who is inspired by RSS ideology, for the top constitutional post even if she is from Odisha. He said opposition parties including the Congress have announced their candidate much before the NDA announced the name of Draupadi Murmu for the election.
It would not be proper to field a candidate and support another, he said. The opposition parties have nominated former Union Minister Yeshawant Sinha as its candidate for the top post of the country. Mishra took a potshot at Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik for appealing to all MLAs of Odisha to unanimously extend their support to Murmu, the daughter of Odisha. Mishra said If Naveen Patnaik has so much sympathy for Odia people, why did he send a non-Odia to Rajya Sabha? Though Mishra did not mention the name of Non-Odia Rajya Sabha member but it was clear he was referring to Ashwini Vaishnaw, the Railway Minister.
