New Delhi, July 28 (Agency) BJP MP Smriti Irani on Thursday slammed the Congress for derogatory remarks against President Droupadi Murmu and alleged that the party is still unable to accept that a tribal is occupying the country’s highest constitutional post. “Droupadi Murmuji has been the central of hatred of the Congress party ever since she became the presidential candidate,” she told reporters here before the Parliament began. The Minister lashed out at the Congress, saying that despite being led by woman leader Sonia Gandhi, the party continued to demean women in constitutional posts.
“The Congressman knew that to address the President of India in this way not only demeans her constitutional post but also the rich tribal legacy that she represents.” “The country and the world know that the congress is anti-women and anti-tribal. Whatever the Congress has done today is disrespecting and attacking the dignity of a tribal and poor family women holding the highest constitutional post of the country.” Meanwhile, Congress leader in the Lok Sabha Adhir Chowdhary said he had used the term “Rashtrapatni” by mistake and that the ruling party was deliberately trying to make a mountain out of a molehill.
