Congress, Akali MPs indulge in spat over farm laws

New Delhi, Aug 4 (Agency) Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) and Congress MPs from Punjab engaged in a spat over the farm laws outside Parliament on Wednesday. SAD leaders were standing outside the Parliament building with placards opposing the farm laws, when Congress MP Ravneet Singh Bittu accused SAD of supporting the government during passage of bills. SAD MP and former Union minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal refuted the charge, saying the party had walked out at the time the bill was being passed.

Bittu, however, continued with the charge that Badal and SAD were a part of the government when bills were passed in Parliament. Badal continued raising slogans, demanding scrapping the farm laws. The verbal spat went on for several minutes.Badal had resigned as the Food Processing Minister in the Narendra Modi Cabinet in protest against the farm laws in September last year.
