Congress aims to win bigger than K’taka in M’rashtra: MPCC chief

Mumbai, Jun 25 (Agency) Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) president Nana Patole on Sunday asserted that they are determined to bring the Congress to power in Maharashtra by winning with a bigger margin than they did in Karnataka. Addressing farmers and the party workers in Sangli on the sidelines of the Mahanirdhar 2024 meeting, he accused BJP of using gods and goddesses only to seek votes in elections and then insulting the same once elections are over. Citing an example of Karnataka, he said that only Lord Ram and Bajrangbali showed the place to BJP. “Now, both Lord Ram and Hanuman have been insulted in the movie ‘Adipurush’, he noted.

Similarly, in temple town of Pandarpur in Maharashtra, posters have been put up everywhere insulting Lord Vitthala, he said. The ruling Shiv Sena-BJP government in the state was insulting gods as well as insulting people, the MPCC chief alleged and demanded to immediately remove the posters insulting Lord Vitthala. Furthermore, in the BJP-ruled states, jobs were terminated, reservation was terminated, he said and recalled that BJP was supposed to give reservation to the Dhangar community in 2019 but the same has not been given as yet. On other hand, in states like Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan, Himachal Pradesh and Karnataka where the Congress-led governments are in power, schemes for the benefit of farmers have been implemented in these states, as well as the issue of employment has been resolved, Patole added.
