Cong will lose Karnataka too for falsifying RSS: CM Bommai

Hubballi, June 5 (FN Agency) Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai on Sunday said the Congress has lost power in almost all states and would lose in Karnataka as well for falsifying RSS.”The Congress is giving a wrong account of RSS, but people know everything about it. RSS is an organization that is engaged in patriotism and people’s service. The organisation has responded to people’s hardships on many occasions. Congress leaders and Siddaramaiah are known RSS opponents. The Congress lost power in almost all states due to this attitude and that it would lose in Karnataka as well,” he told reporters here.Replying to a query, he said politics is being played on textbook revision issues and the education minister will reply to related queries.Earlier Siddaramaiah had slammed the state government’s decision to disband the textbook review committee. “The government should withdraw the revised textbook, not the textbook revision committee, which has already fulfilled its agenda.

If a prejudiced Chairman is removed, then how can we accept the textbook revised by his committee?” he asked. The government had disbanded the textbook review committee on Saturday citing completion of its work. A furious controversy had cropped up in the state after a textbook review committee included a lesson on Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) founder Keshav Baliram Hedgewar’s speech in school books. The committee was set up under the chairmanship of Rohith Chakrathirtha to revise the textbook. There are demands of his removal as he has been charged with saffronising education. Many authors and Lingayat seers have raised objections over factual errors and alleged that the committee was “saffronising” school textbooks with the government’s tacit approval. Allegations also emerged that erroneous content about Basavanna ( 12th-century Indian statesman, philosopher, poet and Lingayat saint) and certain factual errors were included in school textbooks. Previously, the government had staunchly denied the mistakes.
