New Delhi, Oct 19 (Agency) Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday said that if the party form the government at the Centre it would bring ‘one GST, one Tax’ that will actually simplify people’s lives. Addressing a press conference, during his Bharat Jodo Yatra here, he said the Centre has forced five different tax regimes and five different levels of GST.
Gandhi said the Congress party’s idea of GST was one unifying tax. He said our vision for GST was that would develop out of a conversation with the states. “The BJP has actually imposed GST on the country without a conversation with states. They have forced the GST. They have forced five different levels of GST. It is not there anywhere in the world. We are against the basic design of GST. We will bring GST, one simple tax after conversation with stakeholders. We are confident that we will give India a GST that actually simplifies the people’s lives,” Rahul added.
