Cong slams BJP over remarks by its spokesperson against Sonia Gandhi

New Delhi, July 24 (Agency) The Congress on Sunday launched a scathing attack on the BJP, alleging its spokesperson Prem Shukla of making ‘objectionable’ remark against party president Sonia Gandhi during a debate on television. The grand old party has also demanded an apology from Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP in this regard. “The ‘indecent language’ of BJP’s national spokesperson Prema Shukla against Congress president Sonia Gandhi during a debate on a national news channel on July 23 has exposed the ‘anti-women’ mindset of the BJP.

The repeated use of objectionable remark by the spokesperson shows that BJP has neither respect for women, nor does it believe in decency in politics,’ Congress media department head Jairam Ramesh said in a statement. This is not the first time a BJP leader passed objectionable remarks against a woman, he claimed. “We appeal to the PM and BJP to apologise to the women of the country for the indecent rhetoric of party leaders. The repetition of inappropriate language for our president or any other leader will force us to take legal steps like defamation suit,” the Congress MP said.
