New Delhi, July 26 (Agency) Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla on Wednesday accepted a no-confidence motion in the Lok Sabha, moved by the Congress leader Gaurav Gogoi against the Narendra Modi government. The Speaker said that he will discuss this issue with leaders of all parties and inform the house of an appropriate time to take up for discussion. Earlier in the day, the Congress leaders said that a no-confidence motion is an option to make the government talk about Manipur. The opposition had decided to move a no-confidence motion to make PM Modi talk in Parliament on the Manipur situation.
Amid sloganeering by the Opposition members who were demanding discussion on the Manipur issue in the house, the Lok Sabha was adjourned till 2 pm. Meanwhile, Leader of Opposition in the Rajya Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge, wrote a letter to Union Home Minister Amit Shah over the ruckus in Parliament on the Manipur issue. “Opposition is urging the Prime Minister to make a statement in Parliament on the Manipur situation, and a detailed discussion on this issue has be held in both the houses,” Kharge said in the letter.
