‘Communication gap’ led to Maharashtra crisis: Cong MP

New Delhi, June 22 (FN Agency) As the fate of the Maharashtra Vikas Agadhi (MVA) government hangs in balance, Congress MP from Chandrapur Suresh Dhanorkar said the problem arose due to a ‘communication gap’ between the MLAs and Shiv Sena leaders. While hoping that the situation in Maharashtra is brought under control, Dhanorkar, who is among the Congress MPs and MLAs who came to Delhi after being asked by the party, also questioned the ‘Hindutva’ ideology the rebel leader Eknath Shinde referred to. “The MVA government has done good work in Maharashtra, but there has been some miscommunication between the leaders and MLAs of Shiv Sena, which has caused this situation where some Shiv Sena MLAs have rebelled,” Dhanorkar told UNI in an interview.

“It is the job of leaders to communicate with the party members, but we have seen there is a lot of miscommunication in Shiv Sena,” he added. Asked about Shinde’s statement that Shiv Sena should return to Hindutva and support BJP, the MP questioned, “which Hindutva are they talking about?” “Uddhav ji came and met Sonia Gandhi, seeking her support. What is the matter about ideology? What is Hindutva? Does Congress support people of Bangladesh or Pakistan? Even Shiv Sena is taking along the Muslims and Dalits of India. This country belongs to Hindu, Muslims, everyone,” he said. “They did not have a problem for 2.5 years, what is the problem now? I think it is because of miscommunication, they are not satisfied,” the MP added. He also expressed confidence that the Shiv Sena – Nationalist Congress Party – Congress alliance will return to power in the state if elections are held again.
“The Modi government has failed on every front, whether it is demonetisation, GST, farm laws… MVA has performed well, if there is an election we will come back with a bigger majority,” Congress MP said. Political crisis for the MVA government in Maharashtra deepened as rebel Shiv Sena MLA Eknath Shinde claimed he had the support of 40 MLAs, and also produced signatures of 34 MLAs. Chief Minister Uddhav Thackrey, in Facebook Live on Wednesday evening, said he was ready to resign if his MLAs wanted. The MVA has 168 MLAs, of which Shiv Sena has 55 MLAs, NCP has 53, and Congress has 44 MLAs. The BJP has 106 MLAs, and has support of eight more MLAs, bringing the total number to 114. The Maharashtra Legislative Assembly has a total strength of 288, and one seat is vacant because of the death of Shiv Sena MLA Ramesh Latke.
