CM Siddu to call industrialists for talks over power tariff hike

Bengaluru, June 19 (Agency) Karnataka chief minister Siddaramaiah on Sunday said that he would convene a meeting with industrialists in connection with the bandh call given by them on June 22, who are protesting against power tariff hike in the state. He also said that his official have called the industrialists and hope that they will be convinced after going through the facts and figures furnished to them. Siddaramaiah said that the bills are looking exorbitant because tariff of two months have been included in the April bill.

He said that the charges of the bill will come down in coming months. Giving a call for the bandh, the Karnataka chamber of commerce and industriessaid in a statement to its members that the price hike in the electricity charges was abnormal. “We request all the trade and industry to close their establishments on June 22. This is in protest of abnormal price hike in the electricity charges by Electricity Supply Companies (ESCOMs),” KCCI said.
