Centre is ready for talks: Nadda on farmers agitation

New Delhi, Oct 8 (Agency) BJP president Jagat Prakash Nadda on Friday said that the Centre is ready for talks with the protesting farmers who have been demanding the repeal of the three farm laws. “After 11 rounds of talks with farmers, we had said them we suspended these reforms (new farm laws) for 18 months. Agitation is for what ? Even today also the Government is ready for talks,” said Nadda while speaking at the India Today Conclave 2021, on the ongoing farmers movement. He said that the Government has nothing to hide on these reforms as all the things have been kept in details and added that the Union Agricultural Minister Narendra Singh Tomar had categorically stated that “MSP (minimum support ) was there, is there and will remain in future also.”

“Why should we feel scared ? Why should we hide? All the things have been kept in details. Some people have misconception about the new farm laws, we will correct them factually,” said Nadda. The BJP leader also alleged that some people are protesting with “political motive”. “Did any farmers thought that they would get pension ? Now under the leadership of PM Narendra Modi ji they are getting pension,” Nadda said. He also highlighted about the various initiatives taken by the Centre for the farmers, including Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY).
