New Delhi, Aug 21 (Agency) The Co-ordination Committee of Public Schools (CCPS) on Saturday slammed the Arvind Kejriwal-led government over a circular recently. Issued by the Directorate of Education (DoE) and said it is a violation of education of children of economically weaker section (EWS) and disadvantaged group (DG) category studying in public schools in Delhi. Calling the circular as Tughlaqi farman (diktat), the body of unaided recognised schools in Delhi also threatened to approach court if the circular is not revoked as it said that it was related to the future of the around 50,000 students. The CCPS claimed that as per the August 5 circular of DoE, those children admitted in offline EWS and DG category after 2016-17, Delhi government will not consider their admissions valid.
According to the circular, schools will not be able to provide education to the children admitted offline in future, the body added.The CCPS held a joint meeting of parents of EWS and DG category and various school institutions at the Constitution Club here on Saturday in this regard. BJP MP from West Delhi Parvesh Sahib Singh Verma who was also present, assured to take up the matter with Delhi Lieutenant Governor. He said the August 5 circular should be canceled immediately and the education of these children should be ensured, otherwise the parents will not be able to teach their children in these schools. “I want to tell you that your fight is of truth. You will win. We all will fight together . We will meet the LG over this matter,” he said. Earlier, RK Sharma of CCPS said, ” This a Tughlaqi farman (diktat). The government should immediately revoke it.” Another member of the body said, “If required we will approach the court to put a stay on the circular.”
