New Delhi, Nov 11 (Agency) The Congress on Thursday took a dig at the BJP after it released its ‘Vachan Patra’ (promise letter) ahead of the forthcoming MCD elections and termed it an “empty” promise. “BJP’s ‘Vachan Patra’ for the Municipal MCD elections, promising flats to all those living in JJ clusters, was yet another ’empty’ promise to fool the poor people of 675 JJ Clusters, who were denied even basic civic amenities by the BJP during its 15-year rule,” Delhi Congress president Anil Kumar Chaudhary.Attacking the BJP, he further said, “No one in his right sense will believe BJP’s promise of providing flats to slum dwellers as it could not flatten the three garbage mountains in Delhi in 15 years, though thousands of crores were ‘misappropriated’ in the name of clearing the waste.
“The BJP merged the three Municipal Corporations with the promise that the Central government will infuse funds, but the MCD was given no money, he claimed. The BJP sold off prime assets of the Corporation, including school lands, to raise money, Chaudhary alleged. “Broken roads kicking up dust, water shortage, water logging at the first hint of rain, and toxic air and water have made Delhi notorious, and BJP’s promise will remain just as a promise on paper,” the Delhi Congress chief said. The polling for the MCD will take place on December 4.
