BJP will conspire to raise electricity prices in Delhi; AAP will not let it happen: Atishi

New Delhi, Sep 20 (Agency) Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader and Delhi-CM designate Atishi on Friday alleged that BJP will conspire to increase electricity prices in Delhi, but AAP will not let it happen. Addressing the media, Atishi highlighted, “Electricity prices in BJP-ruled states are four times higher than in Delhi. The electricity bill for 400 units in Delhi is Rs 980, while in BJP-ruled Madhya Pradesh, it is Rs 3,800, and in Maharashtra, it is Rs 4,460.” “BJP will conspire to raise electricity prices in Delhi through its LG, but AAP will not allow that,” She added. “The BJP government in Uttar Pradesh has increased the cost of new electricity connections by 250%. Families in Uttar Pradesh now pay Rs 3,000 for a 1-kilowatt connection, up from Rs 1,200.

For a 5-kilowatt connection, the price has increased by 118% from Rs 7,967 to Rs 17,365,” she alleged. Criticising the BJP government in Uttar Pradesh for imposing power cuts of up to eight hours in major cities like Noida, Greater Noida, Ghaziabad, and Sahibabad, she reiterated, “BJP’s electricity model entails prolonged power cuts and high costs, which is why it is essential for Delhi residents to bring Arvind Kejriwal back as Chief Minister to avoid similar issues.” On June 19, Delhi met an 8,400-megawatt peak demand without any load shedding, the AAP leader said noting,“AAP not only provides 24-hour electricity but also the cheapest rates. In Delhi, 3.7 million families receive zero electricity bills, and 1.5 million families using 200 to 400 units pay half rates.” Atishi further urged all Delhi residents to ensure that when elections come in February, they collectively re-elect Arvind Kejriwal as Chief Minister. She also pledged to protect the interests of Delhi residents during her tenure as Chief Minister for the next four months, stating, “BJP will plot to raise electricity prices through its LG. The CM-designate promised on behalf of AAP and Arvind Kejriwal that they will not allow electricity prices to rise in Delhi.”
