BJP shames India internationally: AAP

New Delhi, June 6 (FN Representative) Attacking the BJP over the derogatory references to Islam and Prophet Muhammad made by its spokespersons that caused outrage in the Islamic world, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Monday accused the former of bringing “shame to India” globally. The AAP also said that no other Prime Minister in independent India had made a mockery of the country as much as Narendra Modi had done. “India was insulted and disgraced at an international level. BJP’s hate-riddled politics has brought shame and mockery to the country. In the last 75 years of independence, not a single Indian PM has brought so much shame to India as Modi has. Indian diplomats are being insulted in foreign countries. Ambassadors are being summoned by foreign governments to issue apologies,” AAP Rajya Sabha member Sanjay Singh said.

“For the past two-three days, news that Prime Minister Modi has brought disgrace to the country is being broadcast extensively at the international level. The country’s head hangs in shame because of BJP’s ‘hate politics’ and evil tactics to divide the society. Today, Modi and his party made India’s head hang in shame in front of the entire world,” he added. The Indian government faced a diplomatic outrage from Muslim-majority countries after two spokespersons of the Bharatiya Janata Party — Nupur Sharma and Naveen Kumar Jindal — made insulting remarks on Prophet on live television and Twitter Qatar, Oman, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and Iran reacted furious along with Pakistan and Afghanistan, forcing Indian diplomats to describe the spokespersons as “fringe elements” and the BJP to issue a statement saying it respected all religions. The BJP suspended Nupur Sharma and expelled Jindal from the party.
