New Delhi, June 20 (Representative) Alleging that BJP and its parent organisation have captured the country’s education system, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Thursday said unless it is reversed, paper leaks will continue. Addressing a press conference at the AICC headquarters here, the former party president called the paper leaks as a “national and educational crisis”. “Such incidents were happening as all our institutions have been captured by the BJP and its parent organisation. Our VCs are placed not based on merit but they belong to a particular organisation and follow a certain ideology and this organisation and the BJP have penetrated our education system and destroyed it,” he said.Gandhi said paper leak is an “anti-national activity” that hurts the youth tremendously and “those responsible should be caught and action should be taken against them”. “The reason this is happening is because the independent and objective education system has been demolished and captured by the BJP and their parent organisation,” Gandhi said.
The Lok Sabha member said during his Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra, students had apprised him that paper leaks were endemic in India. “Those students who study, work hard, and are honest, suffer, while those who want to cheat, benefit. And this was repeated again and again,” he added.Gandhi reminded the press of the notorious Vyapam scam that involved 13 different exams conducted by the Madhya Pradesh Professional Education Board. Gandhi said the Narendra Modi government at the Centre was “spreading scams” on the same line. They have already been duplicated in BJP-ruled states like Gujarat and Uttar Pradesh and now they are being done at a national level with NEET and NET.The Congress MP declared that with all these the Modi government’s credibility has touched rock-bottom and would always be ‘Zero’.
He said there was huge pressure on the students and large-scale unemployment in the country and such things have left very few avenues for students. “It doesn’t matter if you’re an IIT graduate or if you’re trying to join the Army. The youngsters in India have no way through. The youth of India have nowhere to go. It’s a profound national crisis,” the Rae Bareli MP said. Expressing concern for the students who have been preparing for these exams for years, Gandhi assured, “We will raise this NEET scam in parliament. They cannot eyewash whatever they want because now there is a strong opposition. They will have to think twice about what they are doing. We are not going to allow such activities to be done as far as our students are concerned.” Reiterating that such issues would be raised inside the Parliament, Rahul said, “People are no longer scared of him (Prime Minister Narendra Modi). The basic concept of Modi has been destroyed in this election. And now we have a strong Opposition.”
