New Delhi, Nov 28 (Representative) A day before the Winter session of Parliament, the Trinamool Congress on Sunday raised various issues in the all-party meet convened by Union Minister of Parliamentary Affairs Pralhad Joshi. AITC MPs Sundip Bandopadhyay and Derek O’ Brien raised 10 points during the meeting, which include unemployment, price rise of essentials/fuel prices, law for MSP, federal structure being weakened in multiple ways, disinvestment of profitable PSUs, increased BSF jurisdiction over Punjab, Pegasus, Covid-19 situation, women’s reservation bill, and bulldozing of farm bills. In a veiled attack on the government, AITC MP Derek O’ Brien said after the meeting that the BJP-led government looked embarrassed, as the opposition raised certain issues to be discussed in Parliament.
“Government refused to discuss Pegasus on the floor of #Parliament in the monsoon session & then the SC spoke. Government brutally bulldozed Farm Bills in Parliament. And then farmers won. Today at an all-party meet before #WinterSession we spotted splattered eggs on Govt’s face,” he tweeted. The government is all set to scrap three farm bills in the Winter session of Parliament, scheduled to begin on Monday. Meanwhile, the ruling BJP and main opposition party Congress have issued whips to their MPs to be present on November 29. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi and Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal were present from the government side in the all-party meet. Leader of Opposition in the Rajya Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge said the Opposition expected Prime Minister Narendra Modi to attend the meeting. Joshi said 31 parties and 42 leaders participated in the meeting.
