New Delhi, June 7 (Agency) The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Tuesday said the news about the recovery of over Rs 2 crores and gold coins from Delhi Minister Satyendar Jain’s house by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) is misleading and baseless. Addressing a presser, Senior party leader Saurabh Bhardwaj stated that the news peddling on social media about a large amount of cash and gold recovery from Jain’s house is completely false. Releasing a document that appeared to be a memo, Bhardwaj claimed that only Rs 2,79,200 in cash, one digital device and several documents were recovered during the search, however, not seized by the central probe agency.
“The seizure memo of the ED raid was given to the wife and daughter of Satyendar Jain. In the memo, it was mentioned that various documents, one digital device, and Rs 2,79,200 was recovered during the search. However, the same were not seized,” the MLA from the Greater Kailash constituency said. He also called the news about the recovery of gold coins and crores of cash from a part of the continuous “witch hunt campaign” against the party. AAP senior leader and Rajya Sabha member Sanjay Singh also called the news about a large recovery from Jain’s house a lie. “Forcibly telling that some people are close to him to implicate Jain… Only ?2.79 lakh were found at Jain’s house. Everything else is a lie,” his Twitter post read. The ED conducted a day-long raid on 6 June where it claimed to seize Rs 2.82 crore of cash and 133 gold coins from “unexplained sources” secreted in the premises of Satyendar Jain and his aide. The central probe agency also publicized images of the finding. Jain was arrested on May 30 under provisions of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) and will remain in the ED’s custody till June 9.
