Youth should understand age-old traditions : VP

Chennai, Dec 27 (Agency) The youth of the country should understand the age-old traditions like respect for elders, service and compassion, preserve and propogate them for their own good, Vice-President M Venkaiah Naidu said on Monday. Releasing a book ‘Dr VL Dutt-Glimpses of a Pioneer’s Life Journey’ written by Ms. V L Indira Dutt here, he said the virtues of respect for elders, service and compassion are at the core of our civilizational values.

“Our youth need to understand that this age-old tradition needs to be preserved and propagated for their own good”, he said. Mr Naidu said while performing one’s professional duty, one should give equal importance to friends and family because in the end that is what gives one an everlasting joy and support. Paying glowing tributes to Mr Dutt, the Vice-President sasid “my late friend, Velagapudi Lakshmana Dutt was a respected industrialist, philanthropist and a visionary par excellence.” Observing that Mr Dutt was not an individual but an institution, Mr Naidu said he was a corporate statesman who inspired a whole generation of young entrepreneurs. The book is based on the life of Dr Dutt, former Chairman KCP Group.
