New Delhi, July 2 (FN Agency) Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday said his government’s vision for Viksit Bharat (Developed India) has a special focus on justice for all and appeasement of none and vowed not to allow anyone spread lies in Parliament. Replying to the Motion of Thanks on the President’s address, Modi said ‘Sab ka Vikas’ has been the motto of his government and “we are committed to working 24X7 in that direction and deliver scam-free governance”. Amid Opposition slogans of “We want Justice”, Modi took a swipe at the poor performance of the Congress in Lok Sabha elections and hit out at the Grand Old Party for “making lies its main weapon”. “Women were misled by the Congress with a promise of paying Rs 8,000 to them every month (after Lok Sabha elections).
People were left checking their bank balances on June 1,” he said, adding that the Congress has also lied in the House on issues related to Agniveer and electronic voting machines. He said lies spread by the Opposition parties is also an insult of the “tradition of the nation” and an attempt to “confuse the citizens”. “We cannot ignore any attempt to spread lies in the House as a childish mistake,” he said. Responding to the “Hindu” remark of Gandhi during his address in the Lok Sabha on Monday, Modi recalled Swami Vivekanand’s speech taking pride in being a Hindu. “They are the ones who have coined words like ‘Hindu terrorist’. Their allies are calling the Hindu community ‘dengue, malaria’ and are regularly insulting Hindus for political gains.” Without naming Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi, Modi accused him of indulging in “childish” behaviour and alleged that he was trying to gain sympathy by making “false allegations”. He also enlisted cases against Gandhi, without naming him, and said he is out on bail in a graft case.
PM Modi also recalled past instances of the Congress leader winking while sitting in the House and embracing rival leaders and said the people of the nation are saying, “Tum se na ho payega (You are a big flop).” Talking about social justice, Modi hit out at the Congress for disrespecting Baba Saheb Ambedkar. He accused the Congress of spreading economic anarchy, citing statements issued in states ruled by the Grand Old Party that the nation would be set afire if the Lok Sabha results did not favour the Congress. Taking a swipe at the Congress’ poll performance, the Prime Minister said the party has set a dubious record of three successive losses in Lok Sabha polls and asked the party to “stop celebrating its fake success” but accept the real message given by voters to the party.
The PM also gave a Bollywood touch to his speech by citing dialogues from the film Sholay, hinting that the Congress and its ecosystem are hell bent on celebrating their failure and ignoring the facts. For the first time in the history of Congress, the party has failed to get more than 100 seats for third successive time, said the PM. “Keep sitting and shouting in Opposition benches,” PM said, even as LoP Gandhi looked on with a smile on his face. Warning the INDIA block constituents, PM Modi said the Congress may eat into the vote share of its partners like a “parasite”. Talking about the election results, he said, “I thank the voters for appreciating our policies and reposing faith in our work to give our government an opportunity to serve them for the third time.” The PM said: “We are committed to the constitutional spirit of secularism and serve every section of society but some people are hurt that they lost the election for the third time.
“The country has seen a governance model of polarisation for a long time but we tried to bring in the model of not Tushtikaran (appeasement) but Santushtikaran (Satisfaction) through saturation of welfare scheme and social justice,” he said, repeating his government’s resolve to take the country towards development for the betterment of future generations. He said under the NDA rule India’s credibility haS increased across the world because of its policies of zero tolerance towards corruption. “The country has blessed us for our zero-tolerance policy towards corruption and the sole aim of every decision, every action we have taken has been India first,” he said. “I want to assure my countrymen that we will leave no stone unturned to fulfill the resolution of building a Viksit Bharat. We will strive our best to deliver the best” he said.
