Guwahati / New Delhi, Feb 14 (Mayank Nigam) “Economic nationalism strengthens a country’s economy,” stated Vice-President of India Jagdeep Dhankhar on Tuesday as the chief guest at the conferment of the Assam Civilian Awards – Assam Baibhav, Assam Saurav, and Assam Gaurav at the Srimanta Sankardev Kalakshetra in Guwahati. Dhankhar said that it was time for the people of the country to think about economic nationalism. . He mentioned that the country’s economy is now strong, and India is on its way to becoming the third-largest economy in the world.
There was a time when India’s economy was in doldrums. He said that these awards would create great credibility, and also inspire other states. Conferment of the Assam Civilian Awards is beyond just a celebration of individual achievement, he added. It is also a reflection of the rich tapestry of Assam, its people and their invaluable contribution to the progress and cultural diversity of a great Nation, he added. Assam Governor Gulap Chand Katariya presented the esteemed Assam State Civilian Awards for 2024 to 22 awardees, including recipients of Assam Baibhav, Assam Saurav, and Assam Gaurav. Governer Kataria presented the Assam Baibhav, the state’s premier civilian honour, to Ranjan Gogoi, Member of Parliament and former Chief Justice of India.
Meanwhile, the Assam Saurav was presented to four individuals including Dr. Kishan Chand Nauriyal, Elvis Ali Hazarika, Hima Das, and Nadiram Deuri. Assam Gaurav was awarded to 17 people including Ranjit Kumar Gogoi, Parvati Barua, Debojit Changmai, Drono Bhuyan, Neelan Dutta, Anupama Deka, Soumyadeep Dutta, Basanta Chiring Phukan, Manendra Deka, Meenakshi Chetia, Pakhila Lethtepi, Tenzing Bodosa, Nirmal Dey, Jecin Kumbang Pao, Mary Hassa, Upendra Rabha and Rahul Gupta. Assam Chief Minister Himata Biswa Sarma attended the program.
