Hyderabad, Feb 3 (FN Agency) Telangana governor Tamilisai Soundararajan on Friday said the inclusive and comprehensive development of “Telangana has become role model for the country and the government promises to the people of the state that it will move forward with the same inspiration and sincerity. Addressing the joint session of the State Legislative Assembly and Council, Tamilisai said the state is progressing in a phenomenal manner on every front and this success of the state of Telangana is due to the blessings of the people, the skillful administration by chief minister K.Chandrashekar Rao and hard work of the people’s representatives and the dedication shown by the government employees. My government faced innumerable challenges to bring the state from a desperate situation to what has become a model for the rest of the country , the governor said “ The who country , today is in awe of the progress made by Telangana and Today, the state is not only economically stronger, but also one of the top performers in the country in welfare and development,” she said. Highlighting the various successful welfare schemes including Dalit Bandhu, Aasara a helping hand for the poor, welfare of tribals, welfare of Golla Kurumas, welfare of textile workers, welfare of toddy tappers, welfare of women and welfare of minorities, adopted by the government, she said due to the enormous efforts made by my government, the total receipts of the state have increased to Rs 1,84,000 crore by 2021-22 from Rs 62,000 crore in 2014-15 and the per capita income of the state also increased to Rs 3,17,115 by 2022-23 from Rs 1,24,104 in 2014-15.
After formation of Telangana state, the growth rate of several sectors of the economy has now doubled and this progress is due to the focus on capital expenditure by the government, he said and congratulated the government for this spectacular progress. In her 20-pages speech, she said there was a time when the entire agriculture sector was distressed and today the state is able to supply to the rest of the country and has become the granary of the country. Tamilisai also said there was remarkable progress in the drinking water supply in the state. There was a time when rural areas presented a picture of poverty and distress and from that today Telangana villages are completely transformed and have become models with a very high quality of life, she said. Telangana today is investor-friendly and attracts the top class companies and multinationals in IT and other sectors, she said and added that over the past eight and a half years, in IT and industry sector, the state has been able to attract investments to the tune of Rs 3,31,000 crores and the IT sector has shown an employment growth rate of 140 percent. In protecting the environment and increasing the greenery also, the state is getting accolades across the world, she said.
Congratulating the government for deciding to name the new secretariat in the name of the architect of Indian Constitution Dr BR Ambedkar, she said “ I feel happy that a 125 feet tall statue of Ambedkar is under installation by the side of the new secretariat. The statue is a befitting tribute to the great BR Ambedkar. To control the crime, the government has deployed 9.8 lakh CCTV cameras across the state and this is the largest such deployment in any state, she said. The governor said,” My government has an equal focus on welfare and development and we are progressing fast along the path of development.” Even though we are only eight and a half years old, we are already a role model for the entire country and there are discussions going on across the country about the Telangana development model, she said in her 30-minutes speech.
