SW Monsoon delayed in remaining parts of country due to unfavourable conditions

New Delhi, Jun 20 (FN Agency) India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Sunday said the further advancement of southwest monsoon into remaining parts of Rajasthan, West Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi and Punjab is likely to be delayed as conditions are unfavourable and the forecast wind pattern do not suggest sustained rainfall over the region for a few more days. According to the National Weather Forecasting Centre of IMD, under the influence of a Low-pressure area over southeast Uttar Pradesh and neighbourhood, a fairly widespread rainfall with isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall is very likely over East Uttar Pradesh and Bihar during the next 24 hours and significant reduction in rainfall activity would take place thereafter.

Under the influence of a ‘Western Disturbance’ and a trough in mid tropospheric levels and monsoonal easterlies would cause widespread rainfall with isolated heavy rainfall very likely over Uttarakhand during next 24 hours and significant reduction in rainfall activity thereafter. Moderate to severe thunderstorms accompanied by frequent cloud bursting to ground lightning is very likely over East Uttar Pradesh and Bihar during the next 24 hours, the IMD further said, adding that this may cause injuries leading to casualties to people and animals staying outdoors.
