Bhubaneswar, Jan 13 (Agency) Renowned sand artist and Padma Shree awardee Sudarshan Pattnaik for the first time has created the biggest rice husk mosaic art at Sonepur in Western Odisha on the theme of World Cup Hockey with the message “Chak De India”. Pattnaik on an invitation for Sonepur Mohatsav from District Administration, Subarnapur, has designed the rice husk mosaic art of the World Cup hockey trophy to cheer team India. India will play its first match against Spain on Thursday at Rourkela, for which all the districts of Odisha are sending their best wishes to team India.

The sand artist also sent a message to the world that art can be created from anything as it is done in Sonepur from rice husks. The mosaic art of rice husk was made in an area of 4682 sq ft where around 100 bags of rice husk was used with help of 10 students from his institute in the indoor stadium of Sonepur. The mosaic art which was created in six hours will be showcased in the Sonepur Mahotsav from January 14. After the end of the exhibition, all rice husks will be returned to the owner for its reuse, hence ensuring sustainable practice in his art. It was an overwhelming experience for Sudarshan as he was joined by many school students, where he got the opportunity to interact with them and also teach them about art.
