Mumbai, Nov 23 (Agency) Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde on Wednesday reviewed preparations ahead of this year’s Navy Day (December 4) celebration and unveiling of grand statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj at Malvan-Rajkot by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the same day. Mentioning that Chhatrapati Shivaji is the father of Indian armour and this year being 350th year of his coronation, he directed all agencies to plan these programmes in coordination. Prime Minister Modi has directed to organise this day at Sindhudurg keeping in mind contribution of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj in building Indian armour. Accordingly, this year’s Navy Day is being celebrated at Sindhudurg. The Navy has selected Sindhudurg fort and its surroundings after inspecting various forts for this programme.
In the meeting, the Navy officers made a presentation about various programmes planned on occasion of the Navy Day as well as unveiling of Shivaji Maharaj’s statue, their outline and features. Descendants of Sarkhel Kanhoji Angre and Heroji Indulkar have been invited for the Navy Day programme. A 43 feet statue of Shivaji Maharaj has been erected at Rajkot on the sea coast of Sindhudurg. Also, an art gallery reviewing Chhatrapati Shivaji’s brilliant life work has been created. Various warships and fighter planes of the Indian Navy will participate in the Navy Day programme. Also, various programmes and activities have been planned on this occasion at Tarkarli and Malvan beaches. Senior officers of foreign navies and dignitaries from home & abroad will be present as special guests at these programmes. In accordance with this programmes, roads, various infrastructure facilities, etc., were reviewed by Shinde.
