SC’s Art 370 verdict not God’s verdict, fight to continue: Mehbooba

Srinagar, Dec 17 (Agency) Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) President Mehbooba Mufti on Sunday said the Supreme Court verdict on Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir was not God’s verdict and resolved to continue the fight. “…Supreme Court’s verdict is not God’s verdict, we will not lose hope and will continue our fight”, Mehbooba told the media in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district. The Supreme Court on December 11 upheld the validity of the Union Government’s 2019 decision to repeal the special status of Jammu and Kashmir under Article 370 of the constitution. The Supreme Court decision was described by the political parties of Jammu and Kashmir as “deeply saddening”.

The former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir said the Supreme Court had earlier in its verdict said that Article 370 cannot be removed without the recommendations of the constituent Assembly. “Today another Judge gave a verdict against it and this we could not say is the verdict of God..we will continue our fight,” she asserted. “People of Jammu and Kashmir have struggled for many years and sacrificed their lives. We are not going to waste their sacrifices’ ‘, the PDP Chief Said. She said the ruling party wants them to lose hope and accept the “defeat” and sit silently at home…but this will not happen.. “we will not lose hope and will continue our fight.” “We will continue our fight till the last breath. And I often say that what has been snatched from us will be achieved back with interest”, she added.
