New Delhi, May 28 (Agency) The MeT issued a red alert for severe high temperatures in Delhi-NCR for the next four days that will be multiplied by the passage of strong, dusty, gusty, hot and dry summer wind from the west. The national capital is already reeling under maximum temperatures ranging from 45 to 47 degrees Celsius and above in some pockets since last week. On Tuesday, intense heatwave with temperatures touching 46 degrees Celsius by 4 pm is forecast by the weather office.
The minimum temperature was recorded at 27.4 degrees Celsius earlier in the day. The India Meteorological Department warned that Delhi will see extreme heat over the next four days. According to the IMD, the temperature will range between 29.2°C and 46°C. The wind blowing from the west-northwest will be at a speed of 5.6 kmph.According to the MeT, it will be mostly a heatwave with clear skies to extremely hot weather during the day, with strong surface winds. The IMD forecasted severe heatwave conditions for six states for May 28, including Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh.
