Rotary organizes Public Image Seminar

Bhubaneswar, Oct 3 (By Dr Ashok Kumar Panda) The Rotary Public Image Seminar was held last sunday at the Hotel Padmaja Premium. The Rotary International was founded in the year 1905. It is the largest service organization in the world dedicated to causes that build international understanding and peace, improve lives, and create a better world to support harmony and peace. There are over 1.4 million Rotary members spread over 200 countries in the world. Rotary International Director T.N.Subramanian who was the chief guest on the occasion stressed the need to highlight the beneficiaries and projects we undertake rather than giving self publicity. He emphasized the importance of doing good work. Our actions will speak and enhance our image he asserted. The Hon’ble Member of Parliament Rajya Sabha, Amar Patnaik, chief speaker spoke on the different projects the government has taken to support the less fortunate ones and also develop the state of odisha.

District Governor Jayshree Mohanty in her address appealed to the Rotarians to create hope in the world and support to be a part of the development process. Past President Tanmay Mohanty spoke on the different projects the district is planning to undertake particularly in the area of health and literacy. A galaxy of dignitaries both from Rotary and Government agencies addressed the seminar. Earlier Dr Ashok Kumar Panda, Seminar Chairman welcomed the gathering and said both trust and reputation ultimately matters to build an image. President Manik Sharma proposed the vote of thanks in the inaugural session. Public Image is the reputation, beliefs or opinions that are generally held about an organization or an individual. The District Public Image Seminar was hosted by the Rotary Club of Bhubaneswar here are different service organizations in the world but Rotary stands out from them as a different entity for its transparency and probity.

This is obviously because of the image and reputation Rotary has built well over 100 years. There is no denying the fact that a strong public image promotes trust and encourages people to be involved in activities that are worthwhile and purposeful opined the speakers. The seminar focused on topics pertaining to health, water, climate and literacy programs .A colourful souvenir was released by the Chief Guest edited by Rtn. Sikha Khuntia Pramod Das, Secretary Rotary Club of Bhubaneswar and ADSG Asish Sahoo coordinated the programme. More than 200 Rotarians from Odisha and different parts of India participated in the day long deliberations and panel discussions.
