New Delhi, Mar 13 (Bureau) Several parts of India are expected to witness moderate rainfall from March 13 to 19, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said on Wednesday. According to IMD, “Isolated light rainfall and snowfall is very likely over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim during March 13 to 16 and over Gangetic West Bengal and Odisha during March 13–19.” Light rainfall is also expected over Jharkhand, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, and East Madhya Pradesh from March 16 to 19. “Thunderstorms, lightning, and winds gusting up to 40 kmph are also very likely over Gangetic West Bengal on March 13, 14, and 16 and over East Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, and Odisha on March 16 and 17,” the IMD said. The IMD also predicted isolated to scattered moderate rainfall and snowfall is very likely over Arunachal Pradesh from March 13 to 19.
“Isolated light rainfall is very likely over Assam and Meghalaya from March 13 to 19 and Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura from March 13 to 17,” the IMD said. Fairly widespread to widespread moderate rainfall with isolated thunderstorms, hailstorms, and lightning likely over Jammu, Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit, Baltistan, Muzaffarabad, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand today, with decreased intensity and distribution on March 14 over the region and dry weather thereafter, the IMD said. “Isolated to scattered light rainfall accompanied with thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds (30-40 kmph) very likely over Punjab, Haryana, northwest Uttar Pradesh, and north Rajasthan on March 13,” it said. The weather department further predicted hot and humid weather over Kerala, Mahe, Rayalaseema and Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal during the next 5 days.
