Rainfall expected over many parts of India: IMD

New Delhi, Aug 9 (FN Agency) Fairly widespread to widespread rainfall with isolated heavy rainfall is expected over Northeast, East and Western Himalayan regions of the country for the next 7 days, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said on Friday. The weather department also forecast subdued rainfall activity over most parts of Peninsular India during the next 7 days. The national capital is also expected to witness similar weather conditions throughout the week.

The IMD predicted a generally cloudy sky along with light to moderate rain and thundershowers over Delhi till 15th August. “Fairly widespread to widespread moderate rainfall very likely over Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, East Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, Konkan & Goa and Gujarat Region; scattered to fairly widespread rainfall over Jammu-Kashmir, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana-Chandigarh-Delhi, West Rajasthan, Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada, Saurashtra and Kutch throughout the week,” the IMD said. According to IMD, “Isolated very heavy rainfall is likely over Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana-Chandigarh, Jammu and Kashmir till 15th August.” “Very heavy rainfall at isolated places over East Madhya Pradesh today and over West Madhya Pradesh tomorrow, the isolated places of Madhya Pradesh, Konkan & Goa, Madhya Maharashtra, Gujarat Region are likely to witness heavy rainfall till tomorrow,” the IMD said. The IMD forecast, “Fairly widespread to widespread light to moderate rainfall over East and Northeast India during the week.” “Very heavy rainfall is likely at isolated places over Arunachal Pradesh on the 09th & 10th; Meghalaya on 09th, Bihar on 10th August.

Isolated heavy rainfall very likely over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram & Tripura and Bihar during 09th-15th; Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim during 09th-11th; Odisha, Jharkhand, Gangetic West Bengal on 09th, 10th & during 13th -15th August,” the IMD said. “Scattered to fairly widespread light to moderate rainfall over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry & Karaikal, Kerala & Mahe, Lakshadweep, Karnataka and isolated to scattered rainfall over Coastal Andhra Pradesh & Yanam, Telangana and Rayalaseema during the week. Heavy rainfall very likely at isolated places over Tamil Nadu during 09th – 13th; Kerala during 11th – 14th; Coastal Karnataka today,” the IMD added.
