R Venkataramani appointed as new AG of India

New Delhi, Sep 29 (Agency) Senior Advocate R Venkataramani is the new Attorney General (AG) of India.The President is pleased to appoint Venkataramani, Senior Advocate as Attorney General for India for a period of three years from the date he enters upon his office.

Venkataramani has served as a member of the Law Commission of India in 2010. He has been appearing for the State of Tamil Nadu as a Special Senior Counsel for the past 12 years and has been a Special Senior Counsel for the State of Andhra Pradesh. Venkataramani has been chosen for the top law officer post of the country, after senior lawyer Mukul Rohatgi declined the offer of AG recently.
