Bhubaneswar, Jan 17 (Bureau) Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Friday discussed the positive changes taking place in the Indian education system and the National Education Policy in the evolving educational landscape with Singapore President Tharman Shanmugaratnam in Bhubaneswar. Pradhan, along with Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, welcomed the President of Singapore at the Bhubaneswar Airport today. Later, in a bilateral meeting, Pradhan held fruitful discussions on strengthening cooperation between India and Singapore in the fields of education, research, and innovation, and building a stronger knowledge bridge.
In a separate meeting, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between Odisha and Singapore in various sectors in the presence of the Odisha Chief Minister, Union Minister Pradhan, the President of Singapore and the accompanying delegation. Pradhan stated that the several MoUs signed between Singapore and Odisha mark a new chapter in international cooperation between the two. These agreements, he added, will further enhance Odisha’s human capital through the state’s skill development ecosystem, foster 21st-century skills, strengthen the industrial sector, and advance research and innovation. “This is a welcome agreement in preparing Odisha for the future, as it will bolster the state’s skill ecosystem and accelerate its industrial and socio-economic growth,” the Union Minister remarked. Pradhan expressed gratitude to the President of Singapore for his willingness to elevate the India-Singapore Comprehensive Strategic Partnership to greater heights. He further stated that President Tharman’s two-day visit to Odisha will add new dimensions to the relationship between Odisha and Singapore and deepen the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between India and Singapore.
