PM Modi announces 12-point action plan to boost partnership with Pacific Island Countries

New Delhi/Port Moresby, May 22 (Agency) Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday announced a 12-point action plan, including setting up a 100-bed regional super specialty hospital in Fiji, Jaipur Foot camps, desalination units for drinking water and sea ambulances, during the Third FIPIC Summit at Port Moresby.MEA spokesperson Arindam Bagchi in a tweet said that PM Modi and Papua New Guinea PM James Marape successfully co-hosted the Third Forum for India-Pacific Islands Cooperation (FIPIC) Summit in Port Moresby.He said the 12-point action plan would consolidate the shared vision of a free, open and prosperous Indo-Pacific. “PM @narendramodi & PM James Marape successfully hosted the FIPIC III Summit in Port Moresby. “PM @narendramodi announced a 12-step action plan to propel India’s partnership with Pacific Island Countries.

It will fulfill the developmental aspirations of the people of the region and consolidate shared vision of a free, open and prosperous Indo- Pacific.” -A 100-bed regional super specialty hospital in Fiji-Set up Regional IT and Cyber Security training hub in Papua New Guinea-Sagar Amrut Scholarships – 1000 scholarships in the next 5 years-Jaipur Foot Camp in PNG in 2023. Thereafter, two camps annually in other PICs.-FIPIC SME Development Project-Solar Project for Government Buildings-Provide desalination units for drinking water-Supply sea ambulances-Set up dialysis units-Set up of 24×7 emergency helpline-Set up of Jan Aushadi Kendras-Set up Yoga centres.
