PM conveys good wishes to Maldives President for thyroid surgery

Male/New Delhi, Feb 25 (Agency) Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday wished quick recovery to Maldives President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih for his thyroid surgery. The PM said in a tweet: “I convey my best wishes to President @ibusolih for a successful surgery and a quick recovery.” The Maldivian President said in a tweet that he is undergoing surgery for his thyroid, and that he will notify the speaker of the Majlis, former President Mohamed Nasheed, and that Vice President Faisal Naseem, will temporarily assume his duties while he is away, “Following advice from my doctors, I’m scheduled to undergo surgery on my thyroid this morning.

“I will formally notify Speaker of @mvpeoplesmajlis and VP @FaisalNasym will temporarily assume my duties for the duration of my surgery. “I look forward to returning to work shortly.” President Solih has left for Singapore to seek medical treatment. President Solih on Wednesday announced via a tweet that he was leaving for Singapore to seek treatment for thyroid illness. He said he would return to work as soon as the treatment was completed.
