Itanagar, Aug 23 (Representative) Arunachal Pradesh Governor Lt General (Retd) KT Parnaik on Tuesday urged the senior state government officials to “perform, reform and transform” by incorporating this spirit in their works. The Governor, who is on a two-day tour to East Siang district, was interacting with the district head of departments (HoDs) while chairing a meeting at the district headquarters Pasighat to review the Central and State Governments sponsored schemes, projects and programmes. He asked the officials to make their respective departments efficient, technology-enabled and treat their responsibilities to improve it further. He also asked them to ‘add professional values’ to their work and have regular field visits, while stating that there is a need for encouraging innovative ideas. The Governor emphasised on the paramount importance of data management for efficient administration and project execution. Further stressing the role of automation in data analysis, planning, and implementation, he urged the district authorities to deploy software applications that can seamlessly integrate data from villages, circles, and districts with the State Government.
Expressing his concern over school dropouts, the Governor pointed out the adverse effects of this trend on the State’s development. He implored officials to embark on an awareness campaign, starting at the village level, creating an environment that fosters education and learning. He also shared his concerns about drug menace in the State and called for concerted effort by one and all to curb the menace. The Governor also suggested involvement of the community, especially the Gaon Burahs (village heads) in maintaining cleanliness and solid waste management. Earlier, East Siang Deputy Commissioner Tayi Taggu, SP Sumit Kr Jha and HoDs gave detailed presentations to the Governor about the Central Government and State Government projects and programmes which are in different stages of implementation in the district. Later in the day, the Governor interacted with the Gaon Burahs (GBs), Panchayat leaders as part of his relentless effort to ‘fostering grassroots participation, collaboration, and community-driven development’.
The Governor, while acknowledging the pivotal role of GBs and Panchayat leaders, urged them to work in close partnership with the district administration to bolster the health and education domains. He also called upon these community leaders to play a proactive role in raising awareness and combating the challenges posed by diseases like tuberculosis and cancer, as well as addressing the pressing issue of drug menace among the youth. He appealed to GBs and Panchayat leaders to promote positive vibes in the society by engaging themselves in the ‘Acchi Baat’ campaign, an initiative of the Governor. He advised them to discuss positive and good works done in the society and suggested them to adopt TB patients, develop innovative ideas and take initiative in promoting education.
