Over 1000 questions listed, 28 bills passed in 7th Vidhan Sabha: Delhi Assembly Speaker

New Delhi, Jan 3 (Agency) Over 1000 questions were listed for Question Hour and a total of 28 Bills were passed in the 7th Vidhan Sabha, Delhi Assembly Speaker Ram Niwas Goel said on Friday. Addressing a press conference, Goel said, “The first meeting of the Seventh Vidhan Sabha was held on 24th February 2020 and its 74th meeting was held on 4th December 2024. During these five years of legislative journey, we have crossed another milestone.”

“A total of 1095 questions were listed for Question Hour, and members were given ample opportunity to ask supplementary questions. 702 matters of special mention were raised under Rule-280 and members were given full opportunity to express their views,” the Speaker said. “A total of 28 bills were passed. A total of 4 Government Resolutions and 14 Other Resolutions were also passed. A total of 13 Motions were passed. A total of 39 Short Term Discussions were held and 13 Drawing Matters were raised,” he added. The Seventh Legislative Assembly also did important work in the field of Committees. 19 reports of various committees were submitted and accepted. Despite being the Legislative Assembly of a union territory and having limited powers, notable works have been done. Highlighting the Assembly’s response during the COVID-19 pandemic, Goel mentioned that arrangements were made for large-scale COVID-19 tests in the Vidhan Sabha premises for the employees of the Vidhan Sabha.

Additionally, a Corona Warriors’ Memorial was unveiled on August 9, 2022, and the Ashoka Pillar was installed on January 25, 2021. Murals commemorating the Jallianwala Bagh massacre and Rani Laxmibai of Jhansi were inaugurated on January 3, 2022. On August 9, 2022, after renovation, the historical hanging house was opened to the public. The Speaker also noted the installation of portraits of notable figures such as Shri Maharaj Surujmal, Shri Madhusudan Dayal, Shri Sunder Lal Bahuguna, Shri Vijay Singh Pathak, Shri Dhan Singh Gujjar, and Raja Mahendra Pratap ji. The Assembly also organized the second Delhi Youth Parliament from January 23-25, 2023, and the Delhi Youth Dialogue 2024 on December 6-7, 2024, which saw participation from students across schools and colleges in Delhi, he mentioned. “From time to time, workshops were organized to present a presentation on Cyber Security and to promote the use of Hindi under the work program for the benefit of the employees. Many other works were done, the list of which is very long and it is not possible to mention them all in detail,” he said.
