Organic farming could solve world’s food scarcity problem

Tirupati, Nov 1 (FN Agency) Three crops a year with Organic farming practices could address the world food scarcity problem, said organic farming expert Vijay Kumar, Retd IAS. Addressing the ongoing ‘Go Maha Sammelan’ he said excess use of pesticides and insecticides has reduced the fertility of the soil and thereby microbes and nutritious content in the crops leading to rise in diseases.

He said with organic farming practices one could raise three crops a year in lands with low rainfall and without irrigation facilities. He pointed out that all-natural calamities were the outcome of low wetness of the soil. He lauded the TTD initiatives to purchase organic products subsequent to an MoU signed with the AP Rythu Sadhikara Samstha in the presence of AP chief minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy.
