Bhubaneswar, Sep 27 (Representative) Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Friday asked the district collectors to ensure that all the projects and schemes of the government will be implemented in the right time. Addressing the two-day district collectors conference here, Majhi said it was most important that all the schemes of the government should be started and completed in the right time. He said it has been noticed that there has been inordinate delay in the implementation of the government schemes and programmes leading to irregularities, corruption and escalation of the project cost. Majhi asked the Collectors to ensure that they keep a strong vigil on the financial and physical progress of the various projects in the districts and review each project and scheme at the block level every three months.
The Chief Minister said they (collectors) could take the projects in the right direction and visualize the problem only when they reviewed the projects , schemes every three months. He said during the last three months he has come to know several irregularities in the implementation of the projects during the previous government and asked the Collectors to take appropriate steps and action if they have come across any such irregularities during the review meeting. Majhi categorically stated that under no circumstances, his government will tolerate and compromise with corruption . ‘This can be as clear a message as possible from me”,he remarked. The Chief Minister said the collectors are the last mile connectivity between the government and the people. The government, he said could formulate planning and policies of various social welfare programmes for the benefit of the people but the responsibility of fulfilling the hopes and aspirations of the people lies on the shoulders of the collectors and the district level officers who will take these programmes and schemes to the doorstep of the beneficiaries.
He asked the district collectors to take necessary steps for mapping the implementation of various projects and schemes right from the village level to the district level in their district. Majhi said with the availability of the present day technology they could get the real time data easily and find out the bottlenecks at the appropriate time and accordingly take necessary steps using the database. The Chief Minister asked the district collectors to find out some time in every month for field visits so that they could see in their eyes the real implementation of the projects. He quoted a verse in the English which says “seeing is believing ” Majhi said the new government is committed to the development of Odisha adding that the government will initiate several measures to develop agriculture, education, health, industry, infrastructure in villages and urban areas, and the empowerment of women to make Odisha the number one state in the country.
