No lockdown in Delhi, prepared to fight Covid

New Delhi, Jan 11 (FN Bureau) Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Tuesday said that he would not impose lockdown and that his government is fully prepared to fight against Covid-19. Kejriwal, along with Delhi Health Minister Satyendar Jain, visited Lok Narayan Jai Prakash (LNJP) Hospital on Tuesday to take stock of the preparations related to Covid. While interacting with the media, the Chief Minister, assured the people of Delhi that he would not impose lockdown. “AAP’ is fully prepared to fight against Covid. If needed, we can prepare 10 to 11 thousand ICU beds by preparing 37 thousand beds. Kejriwal said that 136 corona patients are admitted in LNJP.

Of these, only six had come for Covid treatment, while 130 people came for treatment of other diseases and were found infected. He said that a total of 2500 patients are admitted in the hospital all over Delhi. Even if the number of cases increases, the Delhi government is fully prepared for it, he added. Regarding the restrictions imposed in Delhi, Kejriwal said that the restrictions that have been imposed are being imposed with great compulsion.

“I want to make sure that as soon as possible, we will remove the restrictions and try to impose minimum restrictions in the shortest possible time,” Kejriwal said. I think LNJP is the number one hospital in the country and has treated more than 22 Covid patients so far. This is probably Delhi’s only hospital, which did not deny treatment to any pregnant woman. So far, around 700 deliveries have been done successfully here, he said. CM further said that this is a very mild wave in comparison with the previous one. “The wave that came in April last year was very dangerous. People’s oxygen levels were going down and were facing various kinds of problems. This time the number of such people is very less.” On being asked about the Covid peak, Kejriwal said no one can say anything in this matter, three days ago about 22 thousand cases were reported, yesterday it was 19 thousand and today it is expected to be around 20 thousand cases. With 24 to 25 per cent infection rate recorded for the last two three days, which indicates that cases may further increase. But we are ready for all circumstances, he further said.
