New government in Odisha will provide positive leadership, and ensure political stability- Governor

Bhubaneswar, July 22 (FN Representative) The newly formed government in Odisha will provide a positive leadership, ensure political stability, and meet the expectations of the people, Governor Raghubar Das said. In his address to the first session of the 17th Odisha State Legislative Assembly on Monday, the Governor said it will be the endeavour of the government that every section of the society equally participates in the process of development of the state. The new government, he said, will meet the expectations of the people and will be successful in creating an atmosphere which will pave the way for the state’s development and progress.

The Governor said the year 2024 marks one such momentous occasion, where the people of Odisha, cutting across caste, creed, religion, and gender have given a historic mandate and a clear majority to the government to serve the state for the next five years. The new government, he further said, would lead the state in the direction of achieving Viksit Odisha as the people have voted for Paribartan, Vikas, Susashn and Asmita. The Governor said the government aspired to create a Viksit Odisha by 2036, a state where the farmers thrive, youth find employment, and women are empowered. The government, he further said envisaged Odisha to become the powerhouse of eastern India in Industrial and infrastructure development, leveraging natural resources sustainably, improving education, and skill development, boosting agricultural productivity, promoting tourism, implementing policy reforms, and ensuring financial inclusion.

The Governor said the government was determined to keep its promises made to the people and called its first cabinet meeting immediately after the Swearing-in ceremony and resolved to implement four important promises made in the manifesto. They are opening all four gates of the Jagannath temple in Puri, creating a corpus fund of Rs.500 crore to protect and maintain the development work of Jagannath temple, implementation of Samruddha Krushak Niti under which rate of paddy procurement in both Kharif and Rabi season would be Rs.3100 per quintal and implementation of Subhadra Yojana.
