Naveen urges Centre to open Awaas + mobile app for all Odisha districts

Bhubaneswar, Jul 5 (Agency) Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today on Monday requested Prime Minister Narendra Modi to direct the Union Rural Development Ministry to open the window of Awaas+ mobile App for all the 30 districts for one month. In a letter to the Prime Minister today, Mr Patnaik said it would enable the state to migrate the data of identified eligible households to Aawaas + for achieving the objective of ‘’safe housing for all’’.

Mr Patnaik requested as the Awaas+ window has been opened by the Union Rural Development Ministry only for 14 cyclones FANI affected districts for one month. However, the process of identification could not be taken up in the remaining 16 districts unaffected by the cyclone FANI. The state, he said, has identified the left out eligible households in these districts through state developed RH portal observing the procedure similar to Aawaas+ and requested to open the window. Mr Patnaik said these districts are predominantly tribal and cover all the KBK areas.

Earlier on December 15, 2020, the Chief Minister had requested to cover about six lakh identified eligible households under PMAY(G) in districts not affected by cyclone FANI. The Chief Minister thanked Mr Modi for allotting PMAY(G) target of 8.17 lakhs in favour of Odisha which will provide shelter security to the families affected by cyclone FANI.
