Mundka fire kills 16, toll likely to rise further: Police

New Delhi, May 13 (Representative) As many as 16 people died, while many were feared dead in a major fire that broke out in a building near West Delhi’s Mundka metro station on Friday. The Fire department officials said they have recovered 16 bodies, while the search and rescue operation was still underway. The department said the death toll could go up, as many people were feared trapped inside the building.

According to available information, more than 12 people have suffered injuries in the blaze and were getting treatment at Sanjay Gandhi Hospital. A senior police official said the blaze broke out in the first floor of the building, which is an office of a CCTV cameras and router manufacturing company. Police found in preliminary enquiry that the building was a three-storey commercial condominium, occupied by several companies as their office space.
