MP Sarania urges Delhi govt to reconsider its decision on doorstep delivery of liquor

New Delhi, May 13 (Representative) Amid reports that doorstep delivery of liquor is likely to start in Delhi, Assam MP Naba Kumar Sarania on Friday urged the Arvind Kejriwal-led government to reconsider its decision on the same. “Many people came to me over the Kejriwal government’s new liquor policy. They also informed that the government will start home delivery of liquor. Because of concessions in liquor, crimes like domestic violence might increase,” Sarani said.

The MP further said, “If liquor is delivered at the doorstep, liquor vends are allowed to open in large numbers and even near schools, this is not right. The Kejriwal government should do something in this matter.” “I request the Kejriwal government to review its liquor policy besides considering its decision to start home delivery of liquor,” he said. Earlier, the Congress party slammed the Kejriwal government over doorstep delivery of liquor and said it was determined to ruin the people of the nation’s capital and deepen financial plight. Delhi Congress president Anil Chaudhury had said,”The Kejriwal government’s plan for home delivery of liquor will ruin the people of Delhi, who are already battling price rise, unemployment and economic crisis.”
