New Delhi, Aug 16 (Representative) Guyanese President Irfaan Ali, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, Vice President and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates and Ruler of Dubai Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum were among the world leaders to convey their greetings to PM Modi on India’s 78th Independence Day today. Besides, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken in a statement also conveyed his greetings to India, while the UK Foreign Secretary David Lammy posted his greetings on X, as did the Singaporean Foreign Minister Vivian Balakrishnan, and the Israeli Foreign Minister Israel Katz. The Guyanese President Irfaan Ali in a post on X said: “On behalf of the Government and people of Guyana, I extend heartfelt congratulations to the Government and people of India on your 78th Independence Anniversary. May this significant milestone be celebrated with pride and joy. May the enduring friendship between our nations continue to flourish.” PM Modi, in his reply, said: “Thank you, Excellency @presidentaligy for your warm wishes. Look forward to working with you to further strengthen the friendship between our people.” The Italian PM Meloni, in a post on X, said: “On the occasion of the 78th Independence Day, I would like to express my heartfelt wishes to the people of India, and especially to the many Indians who follow this page. Italy and India share an ever-stronger bond, and I am confident that together we will achieve great things. Our strategic partnership is an important pillar for the future.” PM Modi, in reply, said: “Grateful for your Independence Day wishes, PM @GiorgiaMeloni. May the India-Italy friendship keep growing and contributing towards a better planet.”
The UAE Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum in a post on X said: “Today, India proudly marks its 78th Independence Day, a testament to the nation’s incredible developmental journey. As we celebrate this significant milestone, I extend my heartfelt congratulations to my friend @narendramodi , Prime Minister of India, and to the Indian people. The UAE remains dedicated to reinforcing our friendship, advancing our bilateral cooperation, and fostering strong bonds across all facets of our enduring partnership. Wishing our Indian friends a joyous Independence Day.” PM Modi in reply said: “Grateful for your wishes @HHShkMohd. Your personal commitment to strong ties between India and UAE is commendable. Our nations will keep cementing the bonds of friendship that have been nurtured over the years.” US Secretary of State Antony Blinken, in a statement, said: “On behalf of the United States of America, I congratulate the people of India as they celebrate the anniversary of their country’s independence on August 15. “On this momentous day, we celebrate the rich and diverse history of the Indian people and the bright future of U.S.-Indian relations.

Wishing peace, prosperity, and progress to the people of India.” Australian FM Penny Wong in a post said: “Sending my best wishes to my friend @DrSJaishankar, the people of India and the many Indian-Australian communities celebrating India’s 77th Independence Day today. “The India–Australia partnership is central to the stability and prosperity of our shared region.” The UK Foreign Secretary David Lammy in a post said: “Congratulations to the people of India, and Indians around the world on the 77th anniversary of independence. “In Delhi, I saw the strength of the UK-India living bridge. “Together we will boost investment, create jobs & address future challenges together in the years ahead.” Israeli FM Israel Katz in a post said: “As India marks its 78th Independence Day today, I extend heartfelt wishes to my dear friend @DrSJaishankar and the people of India. “Israel stands with you in celebrating this special occasion, valuing the strength, diversity, and unity of this great nation.” Earlier, more greetings had poured in from across the world, including Russia, Nepal, Mauritius, Bhutan, the Maldives, and other countries.
