Jammu, May 8 (Representative) Renowned nutrition therapist and author, Neelanjana Singh on Tuesday while shedding light on the evolving paradigms of health and nutrition in today’s world highlighted the crucial role of gut health in overall well-being. “The role of gut health is very crucial in overall well-being and mindful eating practices and lifestyle changes support a healthy gut microbiome,” Singh said speaking on the second day of the Amritkaal Lecture Series 2024, held under the theme “Dissolving Boundaries, Evolving Education,” here at the University of Jammu. Singh, who captivated the audience during the first session, titled “Health Food and Beyond,” delved into the changing perceptions of health, emphasizing the transition towards preventive medicine in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. Drawing from real-life examples and contemporary trends, she navigated through topics such as intermittent fasting, artificial sweeteners, and the foundation of a healthy diet built on moderation, variety, and balance. Her comprehensive discourse concluded with an emphasis on the interconnection between sustainable eating habits and a sustainable environment. Neelanjana also answered the various queries of the participants.
The session was chaired by Prof. Samridhi Arora, Head, Department of Home Science, University of Jammu. The second session began with an engaging session by Prof. Kavi Arya from IIT Mumbai on “AI and the Future of Work and Job Creation.”Referring to the audience’s concerns through interactive polls, Prof. Arya navigated through the evolving landscape of employment in the age of automation and artificial intelligence.He discussed the challenges and opportunities presented by AI, emphasizing the need for continuous learning, critical thinking, and entrepreneurial spirit to navigate the changing job market.Prof. Arya also emphasized on the transformative potential of AI in various sectors, including education, tourism, and agriculture, while highlighting the role of initiatives like e-Yantra in fostering robotics education and innovation.Prof. K S Charak, Professor, Department of Mathematics chaired this session.
The third session began with an insightful lecture on the importance of Multidisciplinary Education and possibilities of innovation: Perspective from Humanities and Social Sciences” in shaping the future of learning by Prof. Anand Prakash, formerly Dean International Relations DU.Drawing from his experience in pioneering the Design Your Degree program, Prof. Prakash underscored the need to cater to the diverse learning preferences of today’s generation.He emphasised the value of interdisciplinary approaches in gaining a holistic understanding of complex subjects, advocating for collaboration and dialogue across disciplines. Prof. Prakash’s engaging discourse concluded with a call to embrace trans-disciplinary thinking and dissolve the boundaries that limit intellectual exploration. This session was chaired by Prof. Vishav Raksha, Head Department of Sociology, University of Jammu.
