‘Mediation is best option to resolve civil disputes’

Darbhanga, Sep 14 (Bureau) Amid the rising number of pending cases in all courts across the country, Justice Anjani Kumar Sharan of Patna High Court emphasised the need to opt for mediation to resolve various sorts of disputes, particularly civil matters, saying it always proves to be beneficial for both parties. Justice Sharan, while inaugurating the third “National Lok Adalat,” organised in the premises of the Darbhanga civil court, said that mediation was the best option for people fighting legal battles relating to civil disputes in various courts. Sometimes, it could be seen that when a man approached court for justice in civil cases, it lingered over a long period and his grandson got the justice, which should have been provided much earlier, he pointed out.

“Lok Adalat is the best platform for people to seek justice through mediation as it instills confidence among them due to the use of local language, which also creates a sense of affinity among them,” Justice Sharan said, adding that people were not required to pay any charge for the judicial process conducted in “Lok Adalat “. The disposal of cases in “ Lok Adalat “ was much faster than those decided by regular courts, he maintained. “ Disputes relating to family, labour, and road accidents are settled amicably in Lok Adalat”, Justice Sharan, who is also the inspecting judge of Darbhanga civil court and other courts of the district, said. He called upon the people to take advantage of “Lok Adalat” as much as possible.
